Message from the Chairman
On behalf of the Board of Directors and the Membership of
African Heritage Society (non-profit organization) I would like to
welcome
you to our official web site!
Over the last year we have made steady progress in developing
and improving the festival. In the future, we hope to not only make
this
Festival bigger and better, we hope to make AfrikaDey Festival, Vancouver the African Festival that everyone makes plans
to attend each year.
African Heritage Society wishes to serve
both our members and the visiting public in ways that serve
their purposes and make their visit to the AfrikaDey a memorable
and
learning experience that they will tell their friends about.
It is our hope that you will
contact us to recommend changes to
the site
that will help us provide you with the kind and types of services
that you
feel will be of service to you. Together, we can protect, preserve
and
share the art, history and culture of people of African Ancestry
living in
Canada.
This site will provide you with current information about the
organization,
our annual meetings and regional programs, board members, standing
professional committees, job postings and other important notices
and
connection for individuals and organizations interested in the
promoting the history and
culture of Africans in Canada
The Board of Directors for the African Heritage Society has set
an important and challenging
agenda for making the organization the best that it can be.
Our interests for the future include:

Developing an African Heritage Society Strategic Plan that
will guide operations and the
development and delivery of services over the long term.

Providing its members and member associations and businesses
with improved service
delivery, especially in the areas of an Annual Conference, ongoing
training seminars,
pre-conference workshops, training for boards of directors and
Business Owners, entrepreneurial Program, such issues as business standards and
professional ethics and business management.

The Organization will also act as an informational clearing house
for up and coming African Artists and anyone interested in African, art, culture,
music exhibits, projects, networking and employment opportunities.
